New telephone dialing procedure for local calls

AT&T implemented the new dialing procedure, impacting calls made to off campus local numbers. The new dialing procedure requires that when making a local call in Conn. you dial the area code plus the 7 digit local number. If you do not use the new dialing procedure a recording will instruct you to hang up and dial again. You DO NOT need to dial '1' before the area code. When placing an outside local call from within UConn you will still be required to dial '8' or '9' prior to the number. There are no changes to long distance dialing.
If you experience any difficulty with the new process please contact the UITS Help Center by telephoning 860.486.4357 (from off campus) or 6-4357 (from on campus) and select Option 2.
UPDATE (11/10/2009 - 8:27am): Date Change: To avoid issues AT&T implemented the new dialing procedure on Friday, November 13 (rather than the originally advertised date of Saturday, November 14).

If you receive an email asking for sensitive/personal information: (account, password, date of birth, Social Security) do not respond, delete the message. Contact the Help Center, 860-486-4357, option #3, with concerns or additional information.
